19th Meeting of National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) held – The 19th Meeting of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) was conducted on January 05, 2022, and the meeting was chaired by Union Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change Shri Bhupender Yadav.

  • He also unveiled an Action Plan for the Introduction of Cheetah in India and 50 Cheetahs to be introduced in various Parks over 5 years.
  • The centre is making efforts on a futuristic and multi-pronged strategy for next decade of tiger conservation in the country.
  • Bhupender Yadav has said that India has 51 Tiger Reserves and will be brought under the Tiger Reserve network.

Water Atlas

  • He also unveiled a Water Atlas, mapping all the water bodies in the tiger bearing areas of India including Shivalik Hills and Gangetic plain landscape, Central Indian Landscape and Eastern Ghats, Western Ghats landscape, North Eastern Hills and Brahmaputra flood plains and Sundarbans.
