How to Support Writers And Actors On SAG-AFTRA and WGA Strike – Hollywood is facing a historic double strike: More than 160,000 film and TV performers in SAG-AFTRA and more than 11,500 film and TV writers in the Writers Guild of America East and West. They are striking for equitable pay and working conditions in the streaming era and guardrails around the use of artificial intelligence so that their work won’t be taken place by AI.
How to Contribute To Strike Funds
The first way to directly support workers is to contribute to strike funds. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA (which stands for Screen Actors Guild–American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) each hold internal strike funds. Apart from this, members can donate to the Entertainment Community Fund, which will directly help film and TV workers.
New York strikes
SAG-AFTRA’s New York strikes were held at Paramount’s New York headquarters at 1515 Broadway and various offices of NBCUniversal including Rockefeller Center. Jason Sudeikis joined the NBCUniversal picket lines,
“Quick Photo Op” strikes
SAG-AFTRA called brief strikes at other locations outside of New York and Los Angeles. “Quick Photo Op” strikes, these took place in Orlando, Honolulu, and Atlanta.
