Antonio Costo, Prime Minister of Portugal is elected re-elected after his centre-left Socialist Party after securing a landslide victory in the 2022 Portuguese legislative election.
- In the 2022 Portuguese legislative election, Socialist Party received 117 seats in the 230 seats Parliament.
- Antonio Costo was appointed as the 119th Prime Minister of Portugal on 26 November 2015.
Lt Gen Manoj Pande takes over as new Vice-Chief of Army Staff
Eastern Army Commander, Lt Gen Manoj Pande has assumed the charge as the new Vice Chief of the Army on 1st February 2022. Lt Gen Manoj Pande replaces Northern Army Commander, Lt Gen Y K Joshi who has retired on 31st January 2022.
- Manoj Pande has also served as the Eastern Army Commander since June 01, 2021.
- The Northern Command controls both the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China and the Line of Control (LoC) and a small part of the international border with Pakistan.

Veteran Indian hockey goalkeeper PR Srejeesh has won the prestigious World Games Athlete of the Year for his 2021 performances. PR Srejeesh becomes only the second Indian to receive the accolade.
- Srejeesh was the part of the men’s team that received a bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics 2021.
- Prior to this, India women’s captain Rani received the 2019 prize.
