PM Modi launches pan-India Rs. 5000-crore Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission from Varanasi
On 25th October 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the “Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission” in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. The Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission is the largest pan-India scheme and it will play a role in strengthening healthcare infrastructure across the country.
- The Mission will address gaps in public health infrastructure, with a focus on critical care facilities and primary care in both urban and rural areas.
- The scheme will hlp in strengthening India’s ability to fight and contain outbreaks of diseases in the future.
- Govt will spend Rs. 5,000-crore on this scheme.
- 17,788 rural health and wellness centres in 10 high focus states is to be provided the support of the scheme.
What is Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission?
- Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission is an addition to the National Health Mission.
- It will offer its support to 17,788 rural Health and Wellness Centres in 10 ‘high focus’ states.
- 1,024 urban Health and Wellness Centres will be set up in the country under the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.
- It will ensure a robust public health infrastructure in both urban and rural areas and will build a capability of responding to public health emergencies or disease outbreaks.
