NCC Horse Show 2023 organised in Delhi Cantt

On 17 January 2023, The prestigious NCC Horse Show 2023 was held at Delhi Cantt in New Delhi. Under Officers, Kapil Sharma and Shaksi Tanwar have been declared winners of the Best Rider Trophy in the boy and girl categories respectively.

  • the trophies and prizes were presented by Quartermaster General of Indian Army Lt General Rajinder Dewan to the deserving winners.
  • The NCC Horse Show is conducted every year to adjudge the best rider among the boy and girl cadets of the Remount and Veterinary Units (R&V).
  • The best rider competition was introduced at the All India level in 1967 to promote a sense of participation, equestrian skills and mastery in horsemanship.

MeitY launches Technology for Air Quality Monitoring System (AI-AQMS v1.0)

On 18th January 2023, The Secretary, of MeitY, Shri Alkesh Kumar Sharma launched the Technology for Air Quality Monitoring System (AI-AQMS v1.0) developed under MeitY-supported projects. The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Kolkata developed an outdoor air quality monitoring station to monitor environmental pollutants which include parameters like PM 1.0, PM 2.5, PM 10.0, SO2, NO2, CO, O2, ambient temperature, relative humidity etc in collaboration with TeXMIN, ISM, Dhanbad under the ‘National programme on Electronics and ICT applications in Agriculture and Environment (AgriEnIcs).

General Election to Legislative Assemblies of Meghalaya Nagaland and Tripura, 2023

The Election Commission prepared the Schedule for holding the General Election to the Legislative Assemblies of Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura. The Commission recommends to the Hon’ble Governor of the States of Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura to issue notifications for the General Election under the relevant provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.

TN gets an automated land patta system

Chief Minister MK Stalin launched new software for the Tamilnilam portal, a land record database, aimed at eliminating the need for surveyors to survey land parcels for issuing pattas for subdivided land. The new software aims to integrate the layouts approved by the Directorate of Town & Country Planning (DTCP) and Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA).

  • The portal will automatically assign a survey number for each subdivided plot.
  • The land titles of sub-divisions created by the software will be transferred to the layout owner or property developer’s name.

Pankaj Kumar Singh appointed Deputy NSA

Retired director general of the Border Security Force (BSF) Pankaj Kumar Singh was appointed as the Deputy National Security Adviser in National Security Council Secretariat for a period of two years. Pankaj Kumar Singh is a 1988-batch IPS officer of the Rajasthan cadre and retired as the BSF chief on December 31, 2022.

  • He also served as with the Union government as Inspector General of the CRPF in Chhattisgarh and IG (Operations) at CRPF headquarters in Delhi.
  • he served in the BSF.
  • he played an important role in bringing down cattle smuggling through West Bengal and Assam borders. Between 2015 and 2021, cattle smuggling on the Indo-Bangla border dropped by 87%.
  • He holds LLB and MPhil degrees, besides MBA from the IIM, Ahmedabad.
  • He has served in the Rajasthan Police as well as in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

MeitY launches Technology for Biosensing system for the detection of Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals in aquatic ecosystems

The Secretary, MeitY, Alkesh Kumar Sharma has launched the Technology for Biosensing system for the detection of Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals in aquatic ecosystems (MEAN) developed under MeitY-supported projects.

  • The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Kolkata developed a biosensing system for the detection of Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDC) in aquatic ecosystems, for qualitative and quantitative analysis of EDC content in water bodies in collaboration with ICAR-CIFRI, Baraackpore under the ‘National programme on Electronics and ICT applications in Agriculture and Environment (AgriEnIcs).
