Social Progress Index (SPI) for States and Districts received by EAC-PM
The Institute for Competitiveness and Social Progress Imperative made Social Progress Index (SPI) for States and Districts and has submitted it to Economic Advisory Council- Prime Minister and released it. Puducherry has got the highest SPI score of 65.99 in the country and followed by Lakshadweep and Goa has been placed with scores of 65.89 and 65.53, respectively. Jharkhand and Bihar scored the lowest, 43.95 and 44.47, respectively.
- The Social Progress Index (SPI) is a comprehensive tool that can serve as a holistic measure of a country’s social progress at the national and sub-national levels.
- SPI evaluates states and districts based on 12 components across three critical dimensions of social progress – Basic Human Needs, Foundations of well-being, and Opportunity.
- It also uses an extensive framework comprising 89 indicators at the state level and 49 at the district level.

INSV Tarini to participate in 50th edition of Cape Town to Rio Race 2023
INSV Tarini will join in the 50th edition of Cape to Rio Race 2023 for an expedition to Cape Town, South Africa. This ocean sailing race will be started from Cape Town on 2nd January 2023 and will culminate at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Cape Town to Rio Race 2023 is one of the most prestigious Trans-Atlantic ocean races.
- INSV Tarini will cover a distance of almost 17000 nautical miles during the expedition while transiting from Goa to Rio de Janeiro via Cape Town and back.

5th Scorpene-class submarine Vagir delivered to Indian Navy
The fifth submarine of the Project – 75, Kalvari Class submarines, Yard 11879 has been delivered to the Navy by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) Mumbai on December 20th, 2022. The fifth submarine of Project – 75 will be christened INS Vagir when commissioned.
- The fifth submarine of the Project – 75, Kalvari Class submarines, Yard 11879 includes indigenous construction of six submarines of Scorpene design.
- These submarines have been constructed at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) Mumbai, in the collaboration with Naval Group, France.
