The National Statistical Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation published the Employment Outlook of the country for the period of September 2017 and August 2023. It is based on the administrative records available with selected government agencies to evaluate the progress in certain dimensions.
One Nation One Election Second Meeting
The High-Level Committee conducted the second meeting. The Committee was formed by the Government under the chairpersonship of Shri Ram Nath Kovind former President of India. It aims to discuss the issue relating to the holding of simultaneous elections in the country and make recommendations.

Sri Lanka announces free visas for Indians
The Sri Lankan foreign ministry announced Indians will be offered free visas to the nation as part of a pilot programme which will extend till March 31, 2024. It will revive the country’s fledgling tourism industry and also extend to citizens from six other countries – Russia, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Japan.
Sri Lanka Cabinet approved issuing of free visas to India, China, Russia, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia and Thailand with immediate effect as a pilot project till 31 March. Tourists from these countries will be allowed to travel without any fee to Sri Lanka.

India to become 2nd largest economy of Asia in 2030, says S&P Global
India’s gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to increase by USD 7.3 trillion by 2030 and will leave behind Japan to become the second largest economy in the Asia-Pacific region, S&P Global Market Intelligence said.
It is also expected that India’s GDP will surpass Germany by 2030. the size of the Indian GDP already become larger than the GDP of the UK and also France in 2022.

Skyroot Aerospace unveils Vikram-1 rocket
On 24th October 2023, Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of Science and Technology, revealed Skyroot’s Vikram-1 orbital rocket in Hyderabad. Skyroot’s co-founder and CEO, Pawan Kumar Chandana highlighted the partly commercial nature of Vikram-1’s inaugural launch.
‘Vikram-1,’ a multi-stage launch vehicle will be an expected space launch in early 2024. It was unveiled at ‘Max-Q,’ the company’s new headquarters in the city.

UN Disarmament Week 2023: 24 to 30 October
Every year, Disarmament Week is observed in the world. It is an annual event held by the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA). It aims to create awareness of the significance of disarmament and advocate for the elimination of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction. In 2023, the disarmament week started on October 24th, 2023, and will continue till October 30th. 2023.
- In 1995, the General Assembly invited governments, and NGOs, to take an active part in Disarmament Week (resolution 50/72 B, 12 December 1995) to promote a better understanding among the public of disarmament issues.
World Polio Day 2023
