National

Under Namami Gange Programme 254 projects completed so far

Namami Gange Programme

The Government took steps towards wastewater treatment, solid waste management, and biodiversity conservation for the rejuvenation of river Ganga and its tributaries. Indian Govt started a total of 442 projects at an estimated cost of over 37,000 crore rupees, out of which 254 projects have been completed so far. Around 193 sewerage infrastructure projects took up a cost of over 30,000 crore rupees.

Lok Sabha passes Repealing and Amending Bill, 2022 with amendments

Lok Sabha passed the Repealing and Amending Bill, 2022 with amendments. The legislation will seek to repeal 76 laws that are obsolete or that have been made redundant by other laws. The amendment also corrects a minor drafting error in the Factoring Regulation Act, of 2011. Union Minister for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal said that the bill is based on the concept of ease of living and ease of doing.

Lok Sabha passes Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2023

Lok Sabha passed the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2023. It seeks to amend 42 laws related to sectors including agriculture, environment, media, and publication. The Bill intended to amend certain enactments for decriminalizing and rationalizing offenses to further enhance trust-based governance for ease of living and doing business.

  • It also has provisions to terminate imprisonment as a punishment for many offenses.
  • The Bill will create an Environmental Protection Fund for education, awareness, and research on environmental protection.

Rajya Sabha passes Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, 2023

Rajya Sabha passed the Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, 2023. The Bill seeks to amend the Cinematograph Act, of 1952. The Bill has a provision to add certain additional certificate categories based on age. Films with an ‘A’ or ‘S’ certificate will have to need a separate certificate for exhibition on television, or any other media prescribed by the Central Government.

  • Along with it, The Bill also prohibits the unauthorized recording and unauthorized exhibition of films.
  • Attempting an unauthorized recording will also be considered an offense.

India, ADB sign 295 million dollar loan agreement to upgrade around 265 Km State highways in Bihar

The Government of India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a 295 million dollar loan agreement to upgrade around 265 kilometer State highways in Bihar. The project will help in upgrading all State highways to standard two-lane widths and improve road safety.

  • It will enhance connectivity in some of Bihar’s poorest rural districts and promote access to health and education facilities, and markets to improve people’s lives.
  • It will also help in encouraging women’s participation by providing employment to female workers in construction works.

J&K: District Health Society Doda launches pioneering initiative”Doctor Aapke Gaon Mein’’

In Jammu and Kashmir, the District Health Society Doda launched a pioneering initiative called “Doctor Aapke Gaon Mein.” It aims to extend quality medical care services to the people at their doorsteps. Along with it, A mega medical camp was conducted at Village Phagsoo in Medical Block Thathri. Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, ENT, Medicine, Gynecology, and General Surgery specialist doctors examined and screened the locals.

The Ministry of Home Affairs is going to refer Manipur viral video case to the Central Bureau of Investigation. The mobile phone from which the viral video was shot has been recovered and the person who shot the video has also been arrested.

Bihar suspends social media services till the 30th of July in the Darbhanga district

In Bihar, the Home Department suspended social media services like Whats App, Facebook, and YouTube till the 30th of July in Darbhanga district. The decision was taken as a precautionary measure in view of communal clashes which took place in the district.

Enforcement Directorate Chief SK Mishra will stay on the post till the 15th of September, instead of the earlier deadline of the 31st of July. The Centre appealed for extending the deadline till the 15th of October.
