Hamza Yusuf of Pakistani descent as the Prime Minister of Scotland
Pakistan-origin Hamza Yusuf was elected as the new Prime Minister of Scotland. Nicola Sturgeon resigned as Prime Minister of Scotland in 2014. Hamza Yusuf won the election and beat Kate Forbes. Pakistani origin Hamza Yusuf Nicola served as the Minister of Health in the Cabinet.

Karnataka CM lays foundation stone for 2.93 km ropeway on Nandi Hill
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Pommy laid the foundation stone for a 2.93 km ropeway at a cost of Rs 93.40 crore at Nandi Hill on the outskirts of Bengaluru. Karnataka Tourism Department and Dyanamicx Ropeway Limited signed an agreement under the Public Private Partnership model to build the ropeway to Nandi Hill.

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO ) raised the interest rate on the employees’ provident fund (EPF) for 2022-23. it has now fixed an 8.15% rate of interest on EPF deposits for 2022-23.

Archana won the double gold at Indian Grand Prix 2, Athletics
Tamil Nadu’s Archana Suseendran beat Hima Das in the 100m final and made the most of the Assam sprinter’s disqualification in the 200m to claim double gold in the AFI Indian Grand Prix 2. Archana won the 100m in 11.52 seconds, 0.22 seconds
Manipur boy wins 3 medals in World Weightlifting Championship in Albania
17-year-old and Manipur’s N Tomchou Meetei from Manipur won three medals including two silvers at the 2023 IWF Youth Men and Women World Weightlifting Championships at Durres, Albania. The championship started on March 25 and will continue till April 1, 2023.
- Tomchou is a resident of Ngairangbam Awamg Mamang Leikai in Manipur’s Imphal West district, has won several medals in national competitions after his first participation in Bodhgaya, Bihar (2019) followed by Khelo India Youth Games in Guwahati (2020) and Patliala, Punjab (2021).
- He participated in national competitions in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha (2022), Nagarcoil, Tamil Nadu (2022-23) and Khelo India Youth Games, Indore (2023).
