The Indian Postal Department begins a huge initiative to celebrate Har Ghar Tiranga.

• To celebrate 2023′ Independence Day and Har Khar Tiranga, the Indian Postal Department started an initiative to sell the national flag through its nearly 1.60 lakh post offices.
• This initiative aims to make our tricolor flag available to the shopkeepers in the country and to inculcate patriotism in their hearts.
• More than 5 crore people uploaded their selfies wearing their Tricolor Flag on the “Har Khar Tiranga” Portal in 2022.

The Institute (AIIMS) and IREDA signed an MoU to enhance the technical assessment of the AIIMS New Delhi campus.

• An MoU was signed between AIIMS New Delhi and the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) on August 01, 2023, to enhance the technical assessment and development of AIIMS New Delhi College and Hospital Campus.
• The MoU also aims to reduce its carbon footprint by using solar projects on the campus, resulting in reducing its electricity costs.

India’s first indigenously developed next-generation Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) imaging machine.

• On August 1st, 2023, Union Minister of State for Science & Technology, Nuclear, Public Grievances, Pensions (Individual Charge) Dr. Jitendra Singh launched India’s first indigenously developed, lightweight, affordable and high-speed (1.5 Tesla) Next Generation Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) imaging machine in New Delhi.
• People will be able to buy the domestically produced cinematography machine at a low price.

An MoU was signed between NHPC and ALIMCO for the Divyangjans development.

• The Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) signed an MoU with NHPC  on August 01, 2023, aimed at offering assistive devices and necessary assistance to around 1,000 Divyangjans (handicapped) near NHPC work projects.
• Also, It aims to improve the lives of Divyangjans, especially in the North and North West regions.

International News

1st full-fledged trilateral summit Between USA, Japan and South Korea

• The US White House officially announced that the US will head its first full-fledged trilateral summit with Japan and South Korea, which will be held on August 18th, 2023.
• The theme is “Advance regional security and key global challenges, promote a rules-based international order and promote economic prosperity.”

Seah Kian Peng becomes the new Speaker of the Singapore Parliament.

• On August 2nd, 2023, Seah Kian Peng was sworn in as the New Speaker of Parliament following the recent resignation of Tan Chuan-Jin(former Singaporean Speaker) who was accused of some wrongdoing Assessment.
• With this appointment, he assumed office as the 11th Speaker.
• Seah Kian Peng is a board member of the Singapore Olympic Foundation.
• He served in Singtel and National Park Board.

Adventure Sports and Water Tourism Policy 2023

• On August 1st, 2023, The Uttar Pradesh State Cabinet agreed to the Adventure Sports and Water Tourism Policy 2023 in the Lok Sabha.

A 4,000 MW renewable energy project in Tamil Nadu.

• Union Minister for Power and New and Renewable Energy Sri RK Singh said in Parliament on August 01, 2023, that nearly 4000 MW of renewable energy power plants will be set up in Tamil Nadu state.
• Ministry of New and Renewable Energy approved the initiative.
• A 4,000 MW renewable energy project will be implemented by the Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation (TANTRANSCO).

Literary festival ‘Unmesha 2023’ in Bhopal

• Draupadi Murmu is going to inaugurate the 3-days international literary festival ‘Unmesha 2023’ in Bhopal on August 03, 2023.
• The festival is a national festival of tribal and folk expressions, is conducted by the National Sangeet Natak Organisation

• He served as Principal Manager (Research and Referral) of Army Hospital before this appointment.

Aditya B. Chatterjee becomes the Managing Director of Equifax India.

• Aditya B. Chatterjee was elected as the Managing Director of Mumbai-based Equifax Credit Information Services, and will provide and develop services to meet the ever-growing needs of the company.
• He holds over 20 years of extensive experience in economics and finance.

• In South Africa, Reza Mia has been awarded the prestigious National Science and Technology (NSTF) Award in the category of Innovation and Research for nearly a decade of vertical take-off and landing aircraft development.
• the National Science and Technology Forum presented this prestigious award.

K. Veeramani received the ‘Thagaisal Tamilar’ award for the year 2023.

• Dravidar Kazhagam president K. Veeramani will be conferred the ‘Thagaisal Tamilar’ award, one of the highest awards of the Tamil Nadu government for the year 2023, by Chief Minister Stalin on the Independence Day of 2023.
