Union Minister inaugurates “Incubation Centre” at NRDC HQ in Delhi
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurated “Incubation Centre” at National Research Development Corporation (NRDC)” Delhi, aimed at providing multi-prong support to StartUps. NRDC focus on securing and translating the IPR through various value addition activities carried out like Technology Evaluation, Basic Engineering, Market Surveys, etc.
- NRDC stepped forward into the domain of defense and nuclear technologies for civilian application.
- NRDC also founded a Foreign collaboration with USPTO, and AARDO for supporting Made-in-India, aimed at exploring the world market for Indian Technologies.
- NRDC’s Vizag unit was awarded “Best Technology” and “Innovation Support Centre” in 2021.

India has assumes the chairmanship of Wassenaar Arrangement
India assumes the chairmanship of the plenary of the Wassenaar Arrangement for a period of one year. The 42-member Wassenaar Arrangement is a voluntary export control regime that aims to monitor transfers of conventional weapons and dual-use goods. In December 2017, India joined the Wassenaar Arrangement as its 42nd participating state.
- Ireland’s ambassador Eoin O’Leary handed over the chairmanship to India’s ambassador Jaideep Mazumdar at the 26th annual plenary of the Wassenaar Arrangement held in Vienna during November 30-December 1.
What is the Wassenaar Arrangement?
- It is a multilateral export control regime and promotes transparency and greater responsibility in transfers of conventional arms and dual-use goods and technologies through regular exchanges of information among its members.
- It also tracks such transfers and prevents “destabilizing accumulations” of conventional arms and dual-use goods.
Dhaka Lit Fest 2023
Dhaka Lit Fest is an annual literary festival held in Dhaka, Bangladesh to promoting Dhaka, and Bangladeshi literature and culture to the world. it was began in 2011 and is also known as Dhaka Literary Festival or DLF. Over 500 literary personalities including Nobel Prize Winner Abdulrazak Gurnah will participate in the 10th edition of the Dhaka Lit Fest (DLF) to be held in Dhaka between 5th January and 8th January 2023.
- The daily entry fee will be between Taka 200- Tk 500 for visitors to the Lit Fest.
Croatia adopted the euro as its currency
On 1st January 2023, Croatia adopted the euro as its currency and becomes the 20th member state of the eurozone. it is the expansion of the monetary union since Lithuania joined in 2015. The previous currency of Croatia is the kuna and the country has used the euro as its main reference since its creation in 1994. The Croatian National Bank will exchange kuna banknotes without a time limit, and kuna coins until 31st December 2025.

Tamil Nadu People’s Welfare Minister M. Subramanian launched a YouTube channel called Nalam 365, is specially created for the Tamil Nadu People’s Welfare Department at the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Chennai Thenampet TMS Complex. Nalam 365 YouTube channel aims to bring health and wellness content to people without any commercial intentions.

Pankaj Mohan Sinha is a graduate of the National Defence Academy, Pune, and was commissioned into the IAF as a fighter pilot in June 1985.

- He served as Director of General Air Operations at Air Headquarters.
- He is also a recipient of ‘The Vishist Seva Medal’ and ‘The Ati Vishist Seva Medal.
Anil Kumar Lahoti takes charge as Chairman & CEO, Railway Board
Anil Kumar Lahoti has assumed the post of new Chairman & Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of the Railway Board (Ministry of Railways). the appointment of Shri Anil Kumar Lahoti as Chairman & CEO of Railway Board was approved by the appointments committee of the Cabinet.
- Prior to this, Anil Kumar Lahoti served as Member (Infrastructure), Railway Board.
- Lahoti is a 1984-batch Indian Railway Service Engineer who graduated in Civil Engineering with a Gold Medal from Madhav Institute of Technology and Science, Gwalior.
- He completed his Master of Engineering (Structures) from the University of Roorkee (IIT, Roorkee).
- He served in various capacities over Central, Northern, North Central, Western, and West Central Railways and on Railway Board.
- Lahoti took training in Strategic Management and Leadership programs at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA; Bocconi School of Management, Milan, Italy; and Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.

On 2nd January 2023, Folk singer Maithili Thakur has been appointed the state icon for Bihar by the Election Commission. Folk singer Maithili Thakur will create awareness among the voters for their participation in the electoral process.
- She is trained in Indian classical and folk music and was selected for the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of the Sangeet Natak Akademi for her contribution to the folk music of Bihar for 2021.
- Maithili was born in Bihar’s Madhubani district.

Koustav Chatterjee becomes India’s 78th Grandmaster in MPL 59th National Senior Chess Championship in New Delhi. The 19-year-old Koustav Chatterjee played a draw against GM Mitrabha Guha to secure his final GM norm. Koustav hails from Kolkata, West Bengal and becomes state’s 10th Grandmaster.
- In October 2021, Koustav earned his maiden GM-norm at Sheikh Russel GM 2021 in Bangladesh.
- He scored his second GM-norm at Asian Continental Championship 2022 in November.
