‘SMART’ program for Ayurveda professionals to boost R&D in Ayurveda
The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) and the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) launched the ‘SMART’ (Scope for Mainstreaming Ayurveda Research in Teaching Professionals) program. the SMART program aims to boost scientific research in priority healthcare research areas through Ayurveda colleges and hospitals.
- The objective of the SMART initiative is to identify, support, and promote innovative research ideas in healthcare research areas including Osteoarthritis, Iron Deficiency Anaemia, Chronic Bronchitis, Dyslipidemia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Obesity, Diabetes Mellitus, Psoriasis, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
Electronic Supreme Court Reports (e-SCR) project
The Chief Justice of India (CJI), D Y Chandrachudh, has launched the electronic Supreme Court Reports (e-SCR) project. the project aims to provide free access to around 34,000 judgments of the apex court to lawyers, law students, and the general public. the Supreme Court’s website, mobile app, and the National Judicial Data Grid’s judgment portal will contain these judgments.
- The electronic Supreme Court Reports (e-SCR) project will bring positive change for all stakeholders in the justice system, including litigants, members of the Bar, and judicial academies.
- It will act as a part of the Indian judiciary’s efforts toward digitization.
- The e-SCR project will reduce the burden of traveling and browsing through huge volumes of journals in libraries.
- It will enhance its accessibility to those with visual disabilities.

- It will have replica soft copies of SCRs by utilizing the verifiable authentic soft copies as available in PDF format.

NTPC starts India’s first green hydrogen blending operation in PNG network
State-owned power giant NTPC began India’s first green hydrogen blending operation in the PNG (piped natural gas) network of its township in Kawas, Surat, and is a joint effort of NTPC and Gujarat Gas Limited (GGL).
- It will supply H2- NG (natural gas) to households of Kawa’s township at Adityanagar, Surat.
- Green hydrogen in Kawas has been constructed by electrolysis of water using power from an already installed 1 MW floating solar project.
- Green hydrogen when blended with natural gas lowers CO2 emissions keeping the net heating content the same.
India takes over leadership of the Asian Pacific Postal Union
India will take over the leadership of the Asian Pacific Postal Union (APPU). the elections were held during the 13th APPU Congress held in Bangkok from August- September 2022. Dr. Vinaya Prakash Singh, erstwhile Member (Personnel) of the Postal Services Board will assume the charge of Secretary General of the Union for a period of 4 years.

- It is an intergovernmental organization of 32 member countries of the Asian-Pacific region.
- It is the only Restricted Union of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in the region.
- It aims to extend, facilitate and improve postal relations between member countries and also promotes cooperation in the field of postal services.

President Inaugurates Samvidhan Udyan at Raj Bhavan Jaipur
On 3rd January 2022, India’s President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated Samvidhan Udyan, Mayur Stambh, National Flag Post, and statues of Mahatma Gandhi and Maharana Pratap at Raj Bhavan, Jaipur, Rajasthan. Droupadi Murmu also inaugurated the Transmission System for Solar Energy Zones in Rajasthan and laid the foundation stone for the 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project of SJVN Limited.
- President will also grace the inauguration of the 18th National Jamboree of the Bharat Scouts and Guides at Pali, Rajasthan.
Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award 2023
Guyana’s President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, US-based businessman Darshan Singh Dhaliwal, and DSB Group CEO Piyush Gupta are among 21 recipients of the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA). Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award is the highest honor conferred on overseas Indians. President Droupadi Murmu will confer the award as part of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention, which will be held from 8th January 2023 to 10th January 2023 in Indore.
- Guyana President Mohamed Irfaan Ali will also be the chief guest at the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention.

Odisha govt to provide 5 kg rice free of cost for 1 yr under SFSS
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced the distribution of five kilograms (5KG) of rice per month free of cost to beneficiaries of the State Food Security Scheme (SFSS) for a period of 12 months starting from January 23 to December 23. The govt will meet the total expenditure of Rs 185 crores.
- Govt also provided a Rs 1,000 cash incentive to each family under National Food Security Act and State Food Security Scheme (SFSS) twice.
