National
Schemes for Welfare of Women and Children
Ministry of Women and Child Development clubbed together all the schemes being implemented by the Ministry for the welfare of women and children in the country to ensure better monitoring and efficient implementation. the schemes include (1) Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0 (2) Mission Shakti (3) Mission Vatsalya.
Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0:
- It aims to meet 3 primary verticals: (i) Nutrition Support for Children, Adolescent Girls Pregnant Women & Lactating Mothers (ii) Early Childhood Care and Education [3-6 years], and (iii) Anganwadi Infrastructure including modern, upgraded Saksham Anganwadis.
Mission Shakti
- Mission Shakti has two sub-schemes ‘Sambal’ and ‘Samarthya’ for the safety and security of women and the empowerment of women respectively.
- Govt already launched schemes of One Stop Centres (OSC), Women Helplines (181-WHL), and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) together with a new component of Nari Adalat as a Sambal sub-scheme.
- Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), Shakti Sadan (Ujjwala & Swadhar Greh), Working Women Hostel (Sakhi Niwas), and National Creche Scheme (Palna) were subsumed in ‘Samarthya’.
Mission Vatsalya
- It aims to deliver services for children in need and in difficult circumstances universally in India.
- It also purposes to develop context-based solutions for the holistic development of children from varied backgrounds.
- Under the scheme, support is provided to access vocational training, recreation, health care, counseling, etc., and covers both rural and urban children.
