Every year, International Environmental Education Day is observed on January 26 around the globe in the hopes of improving the relationship between our fellow humans and nature itself. The main objective of the day is to identify and find solutions to certain environmental issues. It also creates awareness for the motivation to continue on this endeavor.
History and Significance
In June 1972, the United Nations conducted a conference in Stockholm, Sweden, on the Human Environment. The meeting focused on certain common principles and standards to preserve and improve the environment. In Belgrade, the International Workshop on Environment was held and published “Belgrade Charter”, presents the essential demands of environmental education.
