Every year, National Trivia Day is observed on January 4th for those who accumulate and hoard tidbits of useless trivia. A trivia game debuted on the 1940s radio program “Take It or Leave It”.
The day aims to recognise the collectors of unconnected, irrelevant data, facts, history, and quotes each year.

Nostalgic college students started to informally trade questions and answers about the popular culture of their youth in the 1960s. After writing trivia columns, Columbia University students Ed Goodgold and Dan Carlinsky formed the earliest inter-collegiate quiz bowls.
