DRDO has developed successfully P7 Heavy Drop System (HDS). this P7 Heavy Drop System (HDS) will have ability to drop military stores such as vehicles/ ammunitions/ equipments up to Seven(7)-ton weight class from IL 76 aircrafts. Heavy Drop System (HDS) is made of platform & specialised parachute system and become a part of the Indian Army.
Design of Heavy Drop System (HDS) –
Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment (ADRDE) has prepared design of this system. ADRDE is a pioneer Research & Development (R&D) lab of DRDO which is located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh (UP).
L&T (Larsen & Toubro) has manufactured It’s platform system and apart from this, Ordnance Factory has manufactured parachutes.
The whole system is made of 100% indigenous ferrous/non ferrous materials.
