Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy inaugurated a PM Jan Aushadhi Kendra at Warasiguda in Secunderabad. Jan Aushadhi Kendras will help in offering affordable healthcare and generate self-employment opportunities for youth. The Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi scheme has been launched to make quality generic medicines available to the common man at low cost.
- The medicines are available at 50-90% lower prices in Janausadhi Kendras than the rates found in regular medical shops.

About PM Jan Aushadhi Kendra Scheme
- Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra (PMJAK) scheme has been launched by the Indian Government, aimed at providing affordable and quality generic medicines to the general public.
- Under this scheme, the centre established Jan Aushadhi Kendras, which are stores that are selling generic medicines at much lower prices than branded medicines.
- The medicines sold in these stores have been accepted and approved by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) and are of the same quality as branded medicines.
- PMJAK scheme aims to lower the out-of-pocket expenditure on medicines for the common man and to promote the use of generic medicines.
- Under the scheme, one can start or open a Jan Aushadhi Kendra.
