Tamil Nadu to spend over ₹50 crores on modernization of forest force

The State government provide an administrative sanction for ₹52.83 crores for the modernization of the Tamil Nadu Forest Force for the years 2022-25. the modernization will be helpful for scientific forest management, training, strengthening delivery infrastructure, and improving the capability and mobility of field staff to handle human-wildlife conflict.

• The fixed-wing drone will be purchased at a cost of ₹6.80 crores.
• A mobile ground control station will be established at a cost of ₹1.50 crore.
• 5 multi-purpose and all-terrain vehicles for the rescue of wild animals and firefighting activities will be bought at a cost of ₹5.25 crore.
• The basic wildlife rescue kits such as trap cages, trap nets, and tranquilizing kits with drugs for each vehicle would be bought at a cost of ₹1.05 crore.
• The modern forest fire control equipment and contemporary fire rescue kits will be brought at a cost of ₹2.70 crores.
