Te Kakau a Māui scholarship 2024 – Purpose

This scholarship recognizes and supports undergraduate students who demonstrate alignment to UC’s commitment to producing students.

The scholarship will broaden the pool of students who receive financial support from the University, by recognizing applicants with a demonstrated and significant commitment to creating positive change in the world.

Te Kakau a Māui scholarship 2024 – Eligibility criteria

  • Applicants must be citizens of Aotearoa New Zealand or holders of Aotearoa New Zealand residence class visas.
  • In the year of application, applicants must have attended a decile 1–7 school in Te Waipounamu South Island.

Te Kakau a Māui scholarship 2024 – Application process

Applicants can apply for the Scholarships on the official website by 15 August 2023.

Te Kakau a Māui scholarship – Selection process

  • 150 scholarships will be offered annually.
  • Te Kaunihera University Council will offer the scholarship on the recommendation of a selection committee comprising:
  • Tumu Whakarae | Vice-Chancellor (or nominee);
  • Amokapua Pākākano Tuarua | Deputy Assistant Vice Chancellor Māori (or nominee);
  • Director of Student Wellbeing (or nominee); and
  • Kaiwhakahaere Tartitari | Director of Recruitment (or nominee).
