The finance ministry released the quarterly report on public debt management and as per the report, the total liabilities of the government have raised to ₹147.19 lakh crore in September-end from ₹145.72 lakh crore at the end of June this fiscal year.
- A public debt registered for 88.3% of total gross liabilities in end-June 2022 and accounted for 89.1 percent of total gross liabilities in end-September 2022.
- The monetary Policy Committee hiked the policy repo rate by 100 bps, i.e., from 4.90% to 5.90% during Q2 largely with an intention to contain inflation.
