The UC International First Year Scholarship is offered to meritorious international students who are starting a bachelor’s program at the University of Canterbury.
- The Scholarship will be Awarded by the University of Canterbury.
- The Scholarship will be available for all undergraduate degree programs offered at the university.
- All international applicants will be eligible to apply for the award.
- The Scholarship Amount is from 10,000 NZD- 20,000 NZD.
- Candidates will have to fill in a separate scholarship application.
- A maximum of 25 scholarships is granted every year.

Eligibility Criteria
The University of Canterbury will reward academically and socially exceptional international students beginning their undergraduate program at the University of Canterbury.
- Applicants must be a full fee-paying international student
- Applicants must be Enrolled full-time in first-year of a program
- Applicants must meet the entry-level qualification for undergraduate admission to the University of Canterbury.
- You completed the admission applications at the university before applying for the scholarship
Application Process
Applicants will be required to complete a separate scholarship application that can be made through the university website.

Selection Process
Every year, A maximum of 25 scholarships are awarded by the Council of the University on the recommendation of the selection committee. The committee is made of –
- Vice-Chancellor
- Director of Student Services and Communication
- Member of the university staff.
Applicants will be selected based on the following parameters:
- academic achievements
- character, leadership potential, extracurricular and community activity interests
- financial circumstances
- strategic objectives of the university
