Waste to Energy Plant in Delhi :
- In order to set up a waste to energy plant, South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has signed a Mou with Indian Oil and NTPC Ltd. The energy plant will be established at Okhla in New Delhi.
- SDMC has joined Indian Oil and NTPC that will work to develop a Waste-to-energy Plant demonstration using Gasification technology at Okhla landfill in Delhi.
- The capacity of the plant will be 17500 tons. in a year, 17500 tons of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) will be processed to produce Syngas from solid waste and later, Syngas will be used to generate electricity.
Benefits :
- The plant will produce less emission and also provide usable residues. it will also provide a clean eco-friendly way that may be useful to handle solid waste, and generate gas, electricity and manure.
